By Diane Lee, Public Information Officer, Garrett County Health Department
Deer Park Family Fun Night offered an opportunity for residents to get outside and play together while also gathering some health education information. Club 21550, a community planning group funded by the Garrett County Health Department, sponsored the event that included food, inflatables, and crafts. During the event Mikali Artice, a substance abuse counselor from the Behavioral Health unit of the health department pictured at right, shared information about methamphetamine – signs and symptoms, treatment options, and health effects. In addition, Chelsie Dever, overdose response program coordinator for the health department, provided information about Narcan.
